WoW Class Guide Upon beginning the online game World of Warcraft you have a few choices to
make, one of which is which class you would like your new character to be. Your choice in
class is very important because it cannot be changed later in game play. If you don’t like the
class you’ve chosen your only choice is to begin all over again.
World of Warcraft has ten classes; Warrior, Hunter, Druid, Mage, Rogue, Paladin, Shaman, Priest,
Warlock and Death Knight. However not all classes are available to be every race, because of this
you should probably chose your class even before your race.

class
Warrior:The warrior class is available to all races except the blood elf. Warriors tend to
play the “tank” in game play, or become the focus of damage so others can kill the enemy. They can
have decent damage causing ability being a close combat type class, as well as have a wider range
of weapon choices. They are more dependent on other classes however often needing a healer or high
dps backup, as well as require a good amount of gear to be effective.
Hunter:The hunter class is available to all races except; Human, Gnome, and the Undead.
Hunters make a very good solo-game play choice because they have the ability to keep a pet which
can act as a “tank”. Hunters are ranged fighters and do not do well in close combat. They can also
track and set traps making them useful in PvP.
Druid:The druid class is only available to Night Elves, and Taurens. This class gets
multiple forms; a bear, a cat, a moonkin (quest) and a cheetah at different levels. Druid is one of
the most versatile classes in the game giving the option of becoming a high damage character,
tanking character or spell caster/healer. Druids make excellent party characters, or first time
characters.
Mage:The mage class is available to all races except; Dwarf, Night Elf, Orc, and Tauren.
Mages are another ranged attacker. They can do great amounts of damage, open portals to cities and
summon food and water. However the also take damage easily and attract attackers with their damage
dealing abilities which also take time. They make good party characters.
Rogue:The rogue class is available to all races except; the Draenei and Taurens. They are
the fastest damage dealing class in the game with melee abilities only. They can stealth and are
very easy to play. Rogues can be solo-ed or played in parties, they also do well in PvP.
Paladin:The Paladin class is available only to; Humans, Dwarves, Draenei, Taurens and
Blood Elves. This class can heal and resurrect, as well as perform several party “buffs.” They are
capable of tanking, though regularly become back-ups or second tanks. Paladins are an excellent
choice if you want to play in a lot of parties.
Shaman:The Shaman class is available only to; Orcs, Draenei, Taurens and Trolls. They are
the best choice for a warrior/spell caster. Shaman can heal, resurrect themselves and others, as
well as wear mail armor allowing them to take more damage. They however are very limited in weapon
use, and can be a challenge to play.
Priest:The priest class is available to all races except; Orcs, Taurens and Dwarves.
Naturally priests are healers. They also have great defensive spells. This is pretty much strictly
a party character, though highly sought after for group play they are very difficult to solo, and
not a choice for everyone.
Warlock:The warlock class is available to; Humans, Gnomes, Orcs, Undead and Blood elves.
This is another high damage spell caster that can also open portals to locations and summon
players. This class also gets a pet. They wear cloth armor only and can’t take a great deal of
damage. Their great for parties and PvP, but can be more difficult to solo. This is another
challenging character to play.
Death Knight:Death Knight is available to all races and is a hero class introduced to
Wotlk expansion. The Death Knight mixes both melee and magic attacks and with their anti-magice
ablity they can devastate most magic users. These former knights are damage dealers and are
effective tanks.
All of the classes have their disadvantages and advantages, it’s really a matter of figuring out
what you’d like to do more in the game, party, PvP or solo, as well as which race you’d prefer and
trying out your options. To get a better overview of your specific Class Character and
