WoW Rogue Lockpicking Guide
The Rogue is the only character that can have lockpicking skills in the World
of Warcraft or WoW in gaming parlance. For most players, however, Rogue lockpicking skills are often taken for
granted and underutilized. Warcraft lockpicking skill is good to have as you will come across
locked chests, boxes, and doors that could give you tools or access to areas that allow you to
level up or to get more loot to sell in the auction house. It is actually in doing the initial
WoW Rogue lockpiquing quest where you can build up your skills.
A Step At A Time
You can be an Alliance
Rogue improving lockpicking skills at the tower in Lakeshire for the
initial WoW lockpicking quest. While you are at it, you should pickpocket as many humanoids as
you can for anything that might be of use to you. You can actually save some of the items that
you cannot open yet for that fast boost when you level up. If you want to know how to level
lockpicking, WoW guides are available for you to learn from. A Horde Rogue can simply feed a
parrot a cracker near Ratchet and then move on to unlock the chests on the boat. In both
factions, a Rogue has to wait until the chests turn grey before moving
on.
Slowing Down and Leveling Up
If you do not want to
move into mobs or go on exploring for chests, you can stay in town, and sit and wait to open
boxes for people. This takes some time but this is a way by which you can do your WoW
lockpicking leveling through this. Keep in mind that your maximum lockpicking skill points
could only get up to five times your level. A player starts at level 70 in the Wrath of the
Litch King and lockpicking skill can be maxed to 400.
Questing
You can up your
lockpicking skill by completing other quests like the Poison Quest where you have to unlock a
chest on top of a tower at the Venture Co. for Horde Rogues or at the Westfall for Alliance
Rogues. You just have to keep on opening the chest until it turns gray again just like in the
initial WoW lockpicking quest. This can get your lockpicking skill up to about 175. Be
careful, though, because you will get cursed every time you open the chest.
Tricky, Tricky, Tricky
The next step is quite
tricky as it will require you to be quick and stealthy. At the Scarlet Monestary, you can
unlock the door and get into the cathedral instance. You need to make sure your stealth
points are high so that you will not be detected easily. You can either take the slow route
of pickpocketing everything in the first instance or take the quick route of running fast
into the instance and then back out the cathedral door while avoiding being aggro’d. You can
get to as high as 250 by just the cathedral door alone.
Getting to 300 Up
Keep on pickpocketing
mobs for boxes and footlockers you can open. Again, save those you cannot open yet for when
you need a fast boost later in the game. You can find a number of footlockers to pick in
zones within your level range. Then, you can move on to the Black Rock Depths and keep on
lockpicking until you reach 300. You can simply open up three doors to the left of the entry
to the Black Rock Depths and then go into a rinsing and repeating process until your
lockpicking skill points show 300.
